My first ad related job was delivering motorcycles to shoots while working at Yamaha Motors. I took a 750 in my van to a mansion in Pasadena. When I arrived I saw all these trucks and vehicles and there must have been 50 people there. Most of them were standing around munching on bagels. I went into the mansion to find out where they wanted the bike and I accidentally went into a room with three half-dressed female models.

The next day, we shot in Westwood and the rider drank beer all day. At the end of the day, he was hammered. That night, we had a wrap party at this really expensive restaurant in Hollywood where I met an actress who gave me her phone number. Nothing came of it but I thought I should learn more about the advertising agency work, seemed like fun. Plus, many of those guys who were standing around drove Porsches.

After that, I wanted to get in the ad biz. My first job was at Honda's new ad agency (they just won the account way back when) called Dailey & Associates. Peter Dailey owned it but was never there because he became the ambassador to Ireland. I didn't have any ad agency experience so I offered to work for free for 90 days, they all laughed and I said "how hard can working in advertising be?"
They hired me even though I insulted them. They even paid me.

First Job
Working on a family chicken farm in Santa Ana, CA made me want a non-farm job. We had egg fights and rode mini bikes. I learned to wheelie a tractor at 12 years old and found out chicken manure could catch fire.

Favorite Food
Fried chicken (any kind of chicken for that matter)

First Motorcycle
Yamaha 80 trail bike. It had no ground clearance and rigid foot pegs so every time I tried to corner hard, I would dig in the peg and high side so I spent a small fortune on clutch and brake levers.

First Race Bike
Bultaco Pursang. The first time I rode it, I looped it out and broke the fenders, tank and seat. I went about 100 feet but 75 of it was the bike endoing.

First Race
Got a bad start and crashed into a pond near one of the turns. Luckily, it was shallow.

First Pro Win

I was leading an Ascot Junior main event but crashed hard with about three laps to go. Somehow, they put me in the front row on the re-start but as I started the bike, I noticed my tank was punctured and fuel was literally pouring out, plus my knee was messed up. My mechanic stuffed a rag in the tank and seat and we went on to win it.

I have been working in the Powersports Industry since...well, the early 70's... yep that long. My career started in the dealership side, then later a rep for Hallman Racing (now Thor), Ed Tucker Distributor (now Tucker Rocky) and others. I was one of the largest selling KTM Dealers in the history of the brand, one of the first dealers with a retail powersports website, managed the DirtBike School program for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation in Irvine, CA and managed the accessory, internet and outlet department for a large Powersports dealer.
Recently I returned to college to study Graphics Technology. With that said, I now handle most of the production and assist in the management of NineFiftyOne Marketing.
Our focus is to provide great customer service at a reasonable price and allow our customers to fully utilize our many years of experience in the powersports and advertising business.
